Objective
The objective of the School Transportation Group is to address school transportation from a SYSTEM perspective including
transportation engineering and planning, land use, safety, security, finance, and technology applications. The scope of our research activities is dynamic as we continue
to understand issues pertinent to school transportation.
Partnership
The School Transportation
Group is a joint effort between the NC State University Institute
for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) and the University
of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center (HSRC). The School
Transportation Group's research activities are funded by the North
Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program in conjunction with the
following agencies:
- North Carolina Department of Transportation
- North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
- Local county and municipal government agencies
- Local education agencies
- Individual schools
- State and national associations.
