The
children were all sitting by age underneath the front overhang in the bay
area.
Many
parents came early and parked in the parking lot and picked up their
children before the dismissal time.
If
Vance didn’t use double lanes for their carpool queue then it would have
backed up into Old Stage Road.
There
was a teacher with a microphone who would call 5 cars up at a time into
the bay area to five different cones. She would then recognize what parent was in the car and call out
the corresponding child’s name over the microphone and tell them to go to
cone 1, cone 2, etc…
The
microphone wasn’t working when we there which contributed to a lot of
shouting and some chaos in getting the children up to the cones.
Vance
started their pick up time two minutes later (3:47pm) than usual because
of the microphone not working.
Vance
had safety patrol in orange vests who would escort the children to their
cars and open and shut the doors for them.
4/5
cars loaded at a time.
General Observations-Queuing Process
Almost
spilled on to Old Stage Rd during peak. Spilling avoided by car riders who
preferred entering the parking rather than join the queue.
