Glenwood Elementary Study
General Observations-Loading Process
- The
children waited out on the grass and the sidewalk in the front of the
school to be picked up by their parents.
- Parents
didn’t start lining up until 20 minutes prior to dismissal.
- There
were three teachers on duty in the bay area.
- There
was lots of “cheating” that went on.
Parents would pull up in front of the queue, park and then walk to
get their child and leave.
- Several
cars parked across from the queue and did the same as above in a clearly
marked “no parking” zone.
- Glenwood
used a “Kiss and go” area. (This was specifically for parents waiting in
their cars.)
- Lots
of parents walked across the active traffic lane to pick up their
children.
- No
specific number of cars loaded at a time.
