The North
Carolina School Related Travel Crash Data is extracted from the
North Carolina Department of Transportation Division of Motor
Vehicles,
Traffic Records Section.
The following
criteria was used:
PASSENGER VEHICLES:
Passenger Car, Pickup, Light Truck, SUV, Van
SCHOOL BUSES: School Bus
OTHER BUSES: Commercial Bus, Activity Bus, Other Bus
PEDESTRIANS/BICYCLISTS: Bicycle, Pedestrian
TIME OF CRASH
(Normal school transportation hours):
• 6:00 a.m. to 8:59 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:59 p.m.
• Monday through Friday
• September 1st through June 15th
• Excluding major holidays
This project
is conducted with the collaboration from the University
of North Carolina, Highway Safety Research Center and funding
from the North
Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program.
