School Transportation Group
The School Transportation Group (STG) addresses school transportation from a system perspective, including transportation engineering and planning, land use, safety, security, finance, and technology applications. The scope of research activities reaches to all issues pertinent to school transportation.
Partnerships
The Group is a joint effort of ITRE and and the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center (HSRC). Research activities are funded by the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program (GHSP) in conjunction with:
- North Carolina Department of Transportation;
- North Carolina Department of Public Instruction;
- local county and municipal government agencies;
- local education agencies;
- individual schools; and
- state and national associations.
