The Public Transportation Group is involved in training on several levels. The two focus areas are: (1) Leadership and (2) computer skill development.
The Group conducts training and offers professional development opportunities for transportation professionals. Training is focused on improving transit operations, particularly in regard to the selection and implementation of appropriate technologies. Examples include courses in Transit Management System—TrIP Maker, ArcGIS and Crystal Reports. Professional development includes training such as the Transportation Development Leadership Program, which develops the leadership skills of transportation professionals.

Transit Technical Certificate Program
As the implementers of technology in North Carolina, matching skill sets to the technology has become a focus of the Transportation Computer Lab. PTG has established a Transit Technical Certificate Program to move technical training courses further into transit-specific software applications, technical processes, procedures training, and job-specific technical skills training. The Public Transportation Group offers various training courses throughout the year. Learn more about the Certificate Program on the detailed Web page.
