NextGen Air Transportation (NGAT) Center of Excellence at the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) at North Carolina State University is a non-profit partnership with academia, industry, and the government focused on developing and evaluating improvements to existing and anticipated air traffic control, airspace management, airport and airspace system capacity, surface traffic management, and flight safety.

The Center’s mission is to discover, evaluate, implement, and disseminate advanced air transportation technologies at the regional, national, and international level to improve the capacity, safety, and environment surrounding air transportation.

 

ADS-B Technology
Basic Information

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is currently being deployed along the east coast. With two newly approved frequencies, ADS-B is a new surveillance technology with multiple applications.
