The Visual Analytics, Modeling, and Simulation (VAMS) research area is home to ITRE’s commercial vehicle enforcement research where there is a strong emphasis on GIS-enabled crash data analysis and enforcement effectiveness. The GIS expertise within VAMS also supports ITRE’s Pavement / Infrastructure Management Systems program as well as GIS training opportunities available to government workers and the general public.
VAMS team expertise in visualization and analysis enables us to take a leading role in many cross cutting areas, including the application of microscopic traffic simulation and visualization to the performance problems of blind pedestrians at roundabouts, the application of data visualization to the areas of freight and logistics, as well as to applied research in the growing area of visual analytics.
