Ron Hughes is a senior research psychologist and Group Director at ITRE with overall program responsibility for the GIS work at ITRE. He specifically manages the GIS and GPS-event capture work sponsored by the NC State Highway Patrol which is part of the NC Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) work deals with the development and maintenance of a GIS crash data base for all commercial vehicle crashes in North Carolina.
John R. Oklevitch is a Research Associate for the Pavement Management Systems area at ITRE. John travels statewide conducting pavement condition evaluations and collects inventory data that is used to develop Pavement Management Systems for various North Carolina municipalities. John prepares a highly detailed and informative report that enables the municipalities to save time and money by prioritizing their routine maintenance and resurfacing efforts. John's many years of construction inspection experience provides him an excellent understanding of the commonly used pavement maintenance and repair techniques. John has conducted numerous GIS-based pavement condition surveys that involve linking the pavement survey data to the municipalities centerline file using a customized software application.
