Alternative-Fueled Buses

This study on alternative fuel bus options and costs was done for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Public Transportation Division.

Ohio Department of Transportation

This project focused on national transit system technology, implementation, and specification development. Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) local transit systems internally identified a technical support need and contacted ITRE for assistance. PTG at ITRE designed a method using spreadsheets for collecting data from Ohio coordinated transportation systems on their services and identified the status of the use of different technologies in the Ohio public transit systems.

The team developed a guidebook for small urban and rural providers to assist in the selection and implementation of technologies. Also, technical functional specifications were drafted for three Ohio transit systems for the procurement of demand-responsive software, automated vehicles location systems (AVL), and mobile data terminals (MDT).

Transportation Management Institute

The Group developed and managed the Transportation Management Institute for the Taxicab, Limousine, and Paratransit Foundation — the first such national training program for taxicab and livery operators. The institute was established to meet the for-hire private transportation industry's needs for comprehensive and specialized training for mid-level and senior managers.

Three courses were offered yearly during the contract with various topics including: risk management; computerized dispatch and communications; interacting with the public and media; sales and marketing; maintenance; and technology.
The Foundation contracted with ITRE to design courses, provide instruction, develop course materials, and handle related logistics (ITRE is currently not teaching these courses).

In 2005-2006, the Taxicab, Limousine and Paratransit Association re-contracted with ITRE and developed the video, "Fair Taxicab Regulation at Work: Because Working Together Works for Everyone." Watch the video»
