Launched in 2004, the Triangle Regional Model Service Bureau (TRMSB) was initiated to house, support, and enhance the Triangle Regional Travel Demand Model which offers technical assistance in travel forecasting and transportation planning, and participates in advanced transportation related research endeavors. Its primary purpose is to maintain, update, provide training, facilitate and conduct research related to the Model.
This is a predictive model that can be used to forecast automobile, transit, commercial vehicle, and non-motorized travel given a set of population and economic forecasts. It can analyze peak characteristics or daily trends and is used for system-wide transportation analysis and air quality emissions testing related to the regional transportation plans.
The Model encompasses two metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) and two stakeholders:
TRMSB staff work closely with a committee comprised of stakeholders’ representatives.
