Highway Systems

The Highway Systems Group spun out of the early research and development efforts in the 1980's on projects for the Division of Highways of NCDOT. Today's efforts expand upon that base of knowledge to include these focus areas:

  1. Transportation Policy
  2. Traffic Operations
  3. Work Zone Safety
  4. Maintenance Operations
  5. Professional Development Training
  6. Professional Engineering Review

Efforts include Research, Education, and Technical Assistance. More information is available from the respective links in these areas.

ITRE's Highway Engineering Concepts Course Holds Winter Graduation

The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) will hold its annual Highway Engineering Concepts (HEC) graduation exercises December 18 at 2 p.m. in the McKimmon Center at North Carolina State University . Twenty-three North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) employees will receive certificates for completion of the course. Refreshments will be served beforehand at 1:30 p.m. Read More...
