The Highway Systems Group spun out of the early research and development efforts in the 1980's on projects for the Division of Highways of NCDOT. Today's efforts expand upon that base of knowledge to include these focus areas:

- Professional Development Training
- Professional Engineering Review
Many of the projects conducted by the group staff are for the Division of Highways of NCDOT. As such, training manuals and reports are the property of NCDOT and are not available to the general public through ITRE. However, there are some products and materials that are available and they are found under the products page linked from the buttons above.
